Grafill

Grafill is the norwegian interest organisation for those studying or working within the field of visual communication. Grafill’s mandate is to advance and safeguard its members’ professional, economic, legal and social interests.

Challenge

In the last years, the busy team at Grafill has steadily increased their editorial and informative output additionally to their regular activity such as networking and professional support. They have launched their own gallery and are very active in organising numerous events, exhibitions and more. Grafill needed an effective online communication tool which allows them to broadcast their comprehensive content and successfully engage and satisfy their members.

It was necessary to improve both the navigation structure and the content organisation. So we worked out a simplified and focused interactive concept, which is easy to handle and works as an umbrella for all the different fields of activities of Grafill.

Grafills activities span amongst others daily news and updates, editorial in-depth content, diverse calendars, a marketplace, two design events awards including framework program, member pages, expertise counseling and not to forget, their own gallery, called R21.

Solution

We chose to work with a mega menu to give the user an instant overview of the whole content. There are also numerous content links for convenient browsing implemented on all pages.

The layout is based on flexible modules which can easily be changed and combined. We use color coding for sub sections, such as R21, or the design events Visuelt and Årets Vakreste bøker.

In-depth articles and interviews give space to visual inspiration, both on the desktop and mobile execution.

Calendars

The calendar pages can be viewed as tiles or as list. The CMS allows to tag calendar articles, so they can pop up in related sections of the page. Of course it's possible to download each event as calendar item, or share it directly with your friends. Each single item in the calendar and programs can be equipped with multimedia material, which creates a rich user experience and is a great opportunity for Grafill to show all the exciting content they provide at events. Furthermore the calendar works as an archive, so that Grafills activity history is always available.
