Breaking through the noise of information with a carefully established strategy is how NewsLab has built their reputation as an editorial communication agency along the years. We helped them build a new website reflecting this part of their work.

Challenge

NewsLab is an editorial communication agency focusing on developing content strategy. They create value through an engaging and qualitative editorial, with an aim to break through the online noise. The high quality of their content and strategies along the years has turned them into a major actor in the field in Norway.

Besides being such a strong actor among the big companies in Norway, they needed to be able to communicate about their status in the field in a better way. And this new communication was concerning a more high-end looking update of their website that evoke a newspaper / press dimension.

Build-up

Solution

From the beginning, NewsLab could clearly express their goals and what was important to achieve with this website update and the all project ended up in a close collaboration. Being able to understand exactly what they wanted gave us the opportunity to achieve an efficient solution. All of NewsLab’s employees are former journalists, drawing on years of experience in creating great content at a high pace. This press history is a key element in Newslab success and had to be alive through their first way of communicating.

It was important to break through the classic display of information to showcase a spirit and desire to always innovate in their field. Especially, innovate around words. It was the first step to build up a more suited website on their specialties and strength.

Results

NewsLab website follows the mindset that built NewsLabs reputation. Through text, the classic display of a portfolios home is changed, it reveals and highlights what the company does and focus on. The projects are displayed as a story that keeps getting written by every new opportunity they have achieved.

Each word they use carries importance because it reveals something about them. You break through the noise to find and display meaningful information by hovering over the different categories of the menu. You can follow theirs projects and adventures in Norway through their blog built on the website.

You can highlight the projects and also what they do and focus on when you hover the corresponding item in the menu on the top-bar.

Offering the possibility to have tools to write down and shape their thoughts about their work the best way possible.

The project page from the beginning was one of their priority to get right. They  wanted to create a short introduction system where we could grasp the entirety of a project so we came up with the medium of the bulletpoints that they can choose to display separately. They also wanted the possibility to express their thoughts and reflexions that led to the different results of their work.

A place to communicate

Another important point for them was to have a place to communicate more directly to the public and also share what they experienced through their project. They happen to be involved with a lot of clients during big events in Norway, covering the copy writing of the contect and participating in interesting exhibitions. So we came up with these blog pages built with the idea of a journal in mind, flexible and straight to the point: they can communicate through pictures, shape texts and inject thoughts through quotes, share job announcements, etc.
